The Indian duo was not in rhythm from the beginning of the match. The women's team could not defend properly, let alone play aggressively against the Chinese competitors. The pair lost against South Korea's Lee So-hee and Shin Seung Chan. Like the last match, the Indian team was defeated in a straight game in this match as well. The result of the game for them is 15-21, 7-21.

Saina Nehwal defeated Hong Kong competitor Cheung Nang Yee in straight games in the women's singles first round at this tournament on Tuesday. London Olympics bronze medalist Sutler won 21-19 and 21-9.

In mixed doubles, the Indian pair of Venkat Gaurav Prasad and Juhi Dewangan lost to the British duo of Gregory Meyers and Jeannie More. In the first round, they lost 10-21, 21-23 and were eliminated from the competition. Ashwini Bhatt and Shikha Gautam had an easy win over their Italian rivals.
