Jaydev Unadkat has expressed his disappointment for being constantly overlooked in India's Test squad despite being one of the top performers in the domestic circuit. Unadkat's only Test appearance came in 2010 and last played for India in 2018. Meanwhile, he was ignored for the tours of Australia and England last year even though he finished the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 as the highest wicket-taker.

The left-arm pacer led Saurashtra to their maiden title win and also bagged 67 wickets with a strike rate of 28.2 in the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 season.

Jaydev Unadkat, who is not part of the Indian squad in the ongoing South Africa tour, on Tuesday (January 4) took to Twitter and wrote: "Dear red ball, please give me one more chance.. I'll make you proud, promise!"

He also shut down a troll who commented, "At what pace would you bowl, bro?" on his tweet.

"At a pace which gets me wickets, even on the flat tracks at my home ground. If you want to see the numbers, keep a wider perspective and check all columns..!," Unadkat wrote in response.

Jaydev Unadkat's tweet came soon after BCCI decided to postpone the start of the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season due to rising COVID cases in the country. India's premier First-Class tournament was scheduled to start on January 13. However, it couldn't take place last season due to the pandemic.

Not playing red-ball cricket at the domestic level is certainly strike hard on Unadkat. That's why his tweet came right after that Ranji Postponement. Meanwhile, the other First-Class cricketers, who rely on the Ranji Trophy performances to earn the national call-up are also downcast.
