"It has been an absolute honor to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of cricket," He wrote in his tweet.

Significantly, Suresh Raina had retired from international cricket along with MS Dhoni on 15 August 2020. But he was playing for Chennai Super Kings in domestic cricket, especially IPL. But last season, CSK released him before the mega auction and then did not bid for him in the auction as well. After this Raina remained unsold in the IPL for the first time.

Suresh Raina also uploaded a video playing cricket a day earlier on 5th September. But a day later, he surprised the fans with his decision. Raina's decision means that he will no longer play in the IPL or any other domestic league. According to media reports, Raina has taken this step to play in foreign leagues.

There is also speculation that this all-rounder can play in South Africa's T20 league starting next year. In this league too, the owners of Chennai Super Kings have bought the Johannesburg franchise. This league will be played on the lines of IPL, in which all six teams have been bought by the owners of IPL franchises.

Talking about Raina's IPL career, he played for Chennai Super Kings for a long time. He played a total of 205 matches in the league and scored 5528 runs. During this, his bat also got a century and 39 half-centuries. Looking at Raina's international career, he played a total of 322 matches in all three formats and scored 7988 runs at an average of 32.87 and strike rate of 92.45. He also played seven centuries and 48 half-centuries in it. Raina also took a total of 62 wickets in bowling, while fielding also took 167 catches.
