Indian pacer Mohammed Shami entered the list of the top 10 bowlers with most wickets in the history of the ODI World Cup after scalping two wickets in his first over of the match against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium. He registered a five-fer in that match and with a total of 45 wickets, he has now gone past Javagal Srinath and Zaheer Khan to become the highest wicket-taking Indian in the competition.

Anil Kumble was part of four ICC Cricket World Cups from 1996 to 2007, playing 18 games. He has taken 31 wickets during these tournaments, with his best bowling figures of 4/32, which he took against the Netherlands in 2003.

4. Jasprit Bumrah – 33 wickets

In his two ICC Cricket World Cup tournament appearances, Jasprit Bumrah has played 16 matches and performed brilliantly by taking 33 wickets. His best bowling figures of 4/39 came against Afghanistan during the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.

Javagal Srinath featured in three ICC Cricket World Cup tournaments from 1992 to 2003, with a total of 34 appearances. He showed his bowling skills by taking an impressive 44 wickets, with his best figures standing at 4/30, which he took against the Netherlands in 2003.

2. Zaheer Khan – 44 wickets

Zaheer Khan, a Legend of Indian cricket, featured in three ICC Cricket World Cups from 2003 to 2011. He played a total off 23 matches in the competition. The Left-handed pacer has taken 44 wickets, including his best bowling figures of 4/42 which came against New Zealand in 2003. Zaheer Khan was India's highest wicket-taker in the WC-winning campaign in 2011, with 21 wickets.
