Pakistan finished at the fifth position in the ODI World Cup 2023 points table with 8 points in 9 matches.

Zaka Ashraf sacked the entire men's selection committee of Pakistan after their failure in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Earlier, Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and bowling coach Morne Morkel have already left the team.

Shahid Afridi can become the new selection committee head, while Younis Khan will be added to the team as batting coach. The remaining committee members will be appointed soon, as Pakistan will travel to Australia for a Test series.

Pakistan lost five matches and won just four in the competition. The batting unit was entirely dismantled by the rival bowlers, while the Pakistan bowlers could not take wickets during important phases of the contest.

Afridi has previously worked as an interim chairman and wanted to remove Babar Azam from captaincy. With Afridi's return and his recent comments against Azam, there is no chance left for the current skipper to continue.
