Riyan Parag scored 57 runs against Kerala in a SMAT 2023 match to become the first player to score six consecutive fifties in T20 Cricket.

Riyan Parag played an unbeaten 57 runs inning for Assam in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 match against Kerala. With this half-century, he became the first player to score six consecutive fifties in the history of T20 cricket. In seven matches in SMAT 2023 so far, he has already scored 440 with a healthy average of 62.86. His inning helped Assam register a thrilling 2-wicket victory against Kerala.

Assam lost their three top-order batters under 48 runs. Riyan Parag came and steadied the chase and shifted gears when it was needed. Assam cruised to a win with three balls left at the Sharad Pawar Indoor Cricket Academy in Mumbai on Friday.

After a poor IPL season with Rajasthan, he needed something to show in his resume and he is just doing it in style. Parag broke Virender Sehwag and David Warner's (5) record for most consecutive half-centuries in T20 cricket. Here is the complete list.

  • Riyan Parag – 6

  • Virender Sehwag – 5

  • David Warner – 5

  • Devon Conway- 5

  • Hamilton Masakadza -5

  • Kamran Akmal -5

  • Jos Buttler -5

  • Asked to bat first, Kerala could only post a low total of 127 for 6 in the 20 overs. At one stage, they were hanging at 63 for 6 before an unbeaten stand of 64 runs between Abdul Basith and Sachin Baby guided them to a respectable total. Basith scored 46 for Kerala. Meanwhile, Mrinmoy Dutta and Avinov Choudhury picked up two wickets each for Assam.

In reply, Assam kept losing wickets at crucial intervals and were 8 down for just 101 runs. Riyan Parag' unbeaten fifty led his team to register a hard-fought win. His 57-run match-winning knock came off 33 balls and was filled with 1 four and 6 sixes.

Riyan Parag's performance in SMAT 2023 so far:

    Batting figures Bowling figures Opponent
    45(19) 0/53(4) Odisha
    61(34) 2/25(4) Bihar
