Two late goals from Brendan and Asish Rai shattered the hopes of Hyderabad FC for a point as the home side stays at the bottom of the table in the ISL 2023-24.

Mohun Bagan SG created ISL history by winning their fifth match in a row. They registered a 2-0 victory against the struggling Hyderabad FC side on December 2, 2023, at the Kalinga stadium. It is the first time in the history of Indian Super League that a team has got victories in their opening 5 straight games.

Mohun Bagan scored two late goals courtesy of its defenders, Brendan Hamill and Asish Rai in the 85th and sixth minute of stoppage time to seal three points. MBSG are now sitting third in the table as they have played 3 lesser amounts of games than the toppers, Kerala Blasters.

Hyderabad FC started brilliantly but the Mariners slowly grew up into the game and created ample amounts of scoring opportunities in the first 45 minutes. The second half started similarly with both sides playing attacking football, more like an end-to-end football match.

Eventually, in the 85th minute, Mohun Bagan Super Giant took the well-deserved lead. Defender Brendan Hamill made a run from behind into the box and a through ball from Samad set a brilliant chance. Hamill buried it in the bottom left corner.

In the 90+6 minute, Asish Rai scored the second goal for Mohun Bagan to ensure a huge victory away from home.He buried the ball into the net from a follow-up shot after Hyderabad's Gurmeet had made a good save.

Hyderabad FC stays at the bottom of the table as Mohun Bagan continues its perfect record in the league.
