Fulham forward Raul Jimenez has etched his name in the Premier League history, becoming the all-time leading Mexican goalscorer in the league.

The 33-year-old striker reached the 55-goal milestone, which is the most by any Mexican in the league, leaving behind the former Manchester United star Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez who has 53 goals to his name.

Jimenez achieved the historic feat with two penalties to complete his brace against Ipswich Town last night as Fulham salvaged a point in a 2-2 draw at the Craven Cottage

Jimenez started off his Premier League career in a promising manner, racking up goals for Wolves where he permanently signed in July 2019 but spent a previous loan spell at the club.

However, Jimenez suffered an in-game injury in November 2020 and ended up having a fractured skull and severe trauma. The Mexican had to spend nine months recovering from the dreadful physical injury, but he admitted back in December 2024 that it needed four years to 'truly recover' from this horrific mishap.

Although the striker signed for Fulham in August 2023, only in this season he has been enjoying his best form since the tragedy.

Jimenez told the following in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports in December 2024:

It has been a long, long journey. My first year was just recovery, doing some exercises that I never imagined I was going to do, like just strengthening my neck with a helmet and different things.

Then coming back to the Premier League to face the games again, it was really good and amazing.

After all those things, maybe the doctors were not that confident that I was going to make it to play again. But it was never out of my mind that I was coming back.

I came back a year after, but I think I came back to my best version not too long ago, so I'm happy to be back.

I still have much to give for Fulham and for football.

Fulham manager Marco Silva has given the Mexican a good opportunity to capture his old magic as his brace against Ipswich has taken him to the headlines again. But this time, for a noteworthy achievement.

Both of his goals came from the penalty spot last night, but most importantly the second one came in injury time which helped Fulham to secure a point at home in the 2024-25 Premier League.

The former Mexican international and Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez, popularly known as 'Chicharito', previously held the record with 53 goals across 158 appearances while playing for Manchester United and West Ham United. On the other hand, Jimenez has surpassed his countryman in 179 games.
