The FIH Women's Hockey World Cup 2022 has started on July 1, Friday in Terrassa. This is the 15th edition of the tournament, co-hosted by Spain and Netherlands. India will play their first match against England on July 3 in Amsterdam.

There are allover 16 teams including India who will be divided into four pools of four teams each. The top team from each pool will secure a place in the quarterfinals. The second and third ranked teams from each pool will play the crossover matches to decide the remaining four quarterfinalists of the Women's Hockey World Cup 2022.

The opening match on Friday was played between Spain and Canada. Spain defeated Canada by 4-1 on their home ground at the Estadi Olimpic de Terrassa. India will play their first match against England on July 3 in Amsterdam. In the year 1974, India has finished at fourth-place in the inaugural edition of the tournament.
