Lucknow Super Giants beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 28 runs in the Indian Premier League 2024 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Mayank Yadav produced another brilliant spell to help his side claim the important two points. RCB had to chase 182 runs but failed to achieve that and ultimately lost the game. Earlier, Quinton de Kock and Pooran helped his side set the target. This is RCB's second straight and third overall loss of this season while LSG registered their second straight victory after starting the campaign with two losses.

RCB vs LSG: Lucknow beat Bangalore by 28 runs

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and decided to bowl first and that didn't go in their favour. Quinton de Kock and Kl Rahul provided LSG with a perfect start, scoring 50+ runs in the first five overs. De Kock started beating the RCB bowlers right from the first over. He kept the attack going even against Mohammed Siraj in the third over, flicking the pacer for a couple of sixes towards fine leg and square leg respectively. Glenn Maxwell struck in the sixth over, scalping the wicket of Kl Rahul (20). Devdutt Padikkal's struggle continued as Siraj sent him to the dugout for just 6 runs.

De Kock continued to hold the charge of LSG's innings even after the powerplay. Marcus Stoinis (24) joined the party, hitting some early boundaries in his inning but Maxwell came up with another blow. Nicholas Pooran then came in and played his natural inning although his catch was dropped when he was on just 2. Reece Topley dismissed De Kock, but the former Proteas wicket-keeper batter already contributed to the team with 81 runs by then. Nicholas Pooran scored 40 runs off 21 runs and remained not out until the end, helping his side score 181 runs in 20 overs.

RCB got off to a solid start, scoring 40 runs in the first 4 overs. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis set the tone but M Siddharth came up with the first blow. Virat tried to improve his run rate and went for a big shot but ended up giving away his wicket cheaply. He returned to the dugout, scoring 22 runs off 16 deliveries. Faf du Plessis then just threw away his wicket while taking an unnecessary single. Padikkal's direct throw sent the RCB skipper to the dugout for 19.

Then came Mayank Yadav. He came like a storm and destroyed the RCB batting lineup completely. The 21-year-old first dismissed Glenn Maxwell for a duck and then scalped the wicket of Cameron Green. Both the Aussies are having a very poor season and their struggle continues. Rajat Patidar scored 29 runs off 21 deliveries in the middle and was set to chase the total for RCB but Mayank Yadav struck again. He picked up three crucial middle-order batters' wickets which helped LSG take control of the game completely.

Mayank Yadav finished his 4-over spell picking up three wickets and conceding only 14 runs. Anuj Rawat also failed to help the team, scoring only 11 runs after facing 21 deliveries. Dinesh Karthik too couldn't score runs today and LSG secured their victory long before they expected.

The only positive from RCB's batting was Mahipal Lomror. He came in as an impact player and impressed the fans once again this season. He smashed 33 runs off just 13 deliveries with 3 sixes and 3 fours to keep the hopes alive for his side. But, he didn't get help from the other end and ended up losing his wicket to Yash Thakur. RCB lost the game by 28 runs but it could have been much worse if Lomror failed to score those runs.
