Indian Wells announced in the statement, "Novak Djokovic is on the tournament entry list and therefore is placed in the draw today. We are currently in communication with his team; however, it has not been determined if he will participate in the event by getting CDC approval to enter the country."
The CDC website (as of 3 March) stated that non-U.S. citizens, who are not immigrants, need to show proof of their vaccination of COVID-19 to reach the United States by air. Second seed Djokovic could not participate at the Australian Open in January 2022. The immigration authorities detained him and his visa due to vaccination and COVID-19 entry rules.
Daniil Medvedev will be competing in the Indian Wells 2022 as the World No 1 player for the first time. On the other hand, Rodger Federer is out of the tournament as he is recovering from his knee surgery. If Nadal and Medvedev reach the last four then they will be competing for the third time in less than 2 months.
