Chandua Sporting Club defeated Debesh Chakraborty Cricket Academy by 49 runs to win the BSCC Challengers Trophy Junior 2022. Md Arbab Khan was player of the match in final for his spell of 24/4 in 5 overs. Anish Paul shone with the bat as well. He scored vital 50 off 47 deliveries for Chandua Sporting club.

The 25-over invitational U-14 tournament was organized by Bengal Sports and Cricket Club to promote more sporting awareness in the location of Bhatpara, West Bengal. Sandipan Das, the Bengal cricketer and organizer of the tournament had the motive to promote games and sports in the locality so that more kids can take up sports as a career choice. "Our main motto was to promote the game and give the kids an opportunity to showcase their talent," Sandipan said.

"We would love that if more kids take up sports and represent Bengal and India in future from our locality. The interest seems to going down a bit. However, we are hopeful that if we can arrange this kind of tournaments more, the interest will surely get high," he added.

In the most awaited final match of the tournament Chandua Sporting club batted first and scored 197/5 after their full quota of 25 overs. Opener Anish Paul sored a magnificent fifty to give the team a solid start. Along with him, Satyam Das (33), Rajdeep Das (21), Pradipta Bhukta (34) and Debojyoti Pal (27 off 12) contributed to team's total in the middle order.

It was never an easy chase for Debesh Chakraborty Cricket Academy as the asking rate was nearly 8 from the start. Though Dhritiman Das tried to force some resistance with his 40 off 44, Md Arab Khan ripped through the batting line up to make it an easy win for Chanuda Sporting.

Aritra Chakraborty was adjudged "Man of the Series" for his excellent performance throughout the tournament. He was given a cricket helmet as the prize for his excellent batting skills in the BSCC Challengers Trophy. Along with him it was Gautam Reddy who impressed everyone with his all-round performance. "Aritra and Gautam impressed me very much. Actually everyone was good. But those two were best of them," Sandipan Das expressed.

Prominent coach Abdul Monayem and Bengal cricketer Ravikant Singh were present at the ground as chief guest. Along with them, local councillor Sima Mondal and CIC member Manoj Guha were also present to encourage the budding cricketers.
