The Proteas all-rounder Chris Morris announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on 11 January 2022. Morris took to social media to announce the news of his retirement.

He penned down, "Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket! Thanks to all who have played a part in my journey whether it be big or small…it's been a fun ride! Delighted to be taking up a coaching role at Titans cricket".

Widely famed as a white-ball cricketer, Chris Morris played 69 matches for South Africa across all 3 formats; T20I, ODI, and Test. He featured in 23 T20Is, 42 ODIs, and 4 Test matches. He scalped 34 T20I wickets, 48 ODI wickets, and 12 test wickets. His last match for his country was an ODI against Australia that he played in 2019.

His contribution has been immense, but often he got overlooked even after a successful IPL career. He became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL auction after Rajasthan Royals bought him for INR 16.25 crore. Even after this record deal with Rajasthan Royals, Morris did not get the opportunity to play for the Proteas in the T20 World Cup 2021.
