New Zealand U-19 team decided to withdraw from the ICC U-19 Men's World Cup due to owing to "extensive mandatory quarantine restrictions for minors on their return home". Initially, Scotland missed the opportunity to qualify in the Europe qualifiers, hence Scotland entered as the 16th team to compete in the absence of New Zealand.

West Indies will host the ICC U-19 men's World Cup from 14 January 2022 to 5th February 2022. This 50-over world cup is going to be the 14th edition. Also, a total of 16 teams will be competing in a 48-match tournament divided into 4 groups in 10 different venues; Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana, St Kitts, and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago. Also, 16 warm-up matches will take place from 9 January to 12 January in St Kitts and Nevis, and Guyana. 10 of the 16 teams made a direct entry and qualified for the tournament.

India won the title of the U-19 marquee tournament four times. Australia won it thrice and Pakistan won twice. Whereas West Indies, England, South Africa, and Bangladesh won the title once each.
