After Friday's game against New Zealand, Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan was taken for a scan. Shakib hurt his left quad during the game. Meanwhile, Kane Williamson will also undergo a scan on Saturday on his left thumb.

"Shakib is having a scan as he hurt his left quad," a BCB official said on Friday. He added that any further call would be taken after assessing his condition. Bangladesh have lost two of their first three fixtures and will be hopeful of Shakib's return to full fitness before their next fixture - six days away in Pune against India on October 19.

New Zealand will hope the latest setback for Williamson isn't severe as he made a brilliant return to ODI cricket, starring with 78 runs. Ultimately New Zeland chased the total easily and registered their third victory of the ICC CWC 2023 edition.
