WTC 2023-25 Points Table: India consolidates its position at the second spot following its five-wicket victory against England

The Indian cricket team defeated England by 5 wickets in the fourth Test played in Ranchi. India achieved the target of 192 runs for victory thanks to the innings of Rohit Sharma (55), Shubhman Gill (52*) and Dhruv Jurel (39*). The Indian team, which has taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series, has further strengthened its claim to the second place in the WTC 2023-25 Points Table.

Number one position does not seem too far away for India

If we talk about the WTC 2023-25 Points Table, even after the fourth match played between India and England, New Zealand team is occupying the number one position. New Zealand has played four matches so far and has won 3 of them. The team's winning percentage i.e. PCT is currently 75.

Talking about the Indian team, before the Ranchi Test, India had played 7 matches, out of which it had won 4 and lost 2. The team's PCT was 59.52, which has now increased. The Indian team has now played 8 matches and out of them it has won 5, lost 2 and one match has ended in a draw. In this way, the PCT of the Indian team has now become 64.58.

However, the fifth and last Test of this series is still pending, which will be played in Dharamshala from March 7. If India wins that match also, then the number one position does not seem too far away for them. But for this there is a need to wait for some time.

Australian occupies third position

Australia is at third place after India in WTC 2023-25 Points Table. Australia has played 10 matches and won 6 of them and lost 3. One match has been a draw. Thus its PCT is 55. That means the Indian team has now gone much ahead of Australia in terms of PCT. If we talk about the fourth position after the top 3 teams, then Bangladesh team is visible here. Its PCT is 50.

The condition of Pakistan is looking very bad. Pakistan has played 5 matches and has won only two of them. They have lost in the remaining three matches. In this respect its PCT is 36.66. The team is at number 5. West Indies also has the same winning percentage and the team is currently at sixth position. South Africa's PCT is 25 and the team is at number seven.

England is continuously incurring losses

Now the question is where is the England team in the WTC 2023-25 Points Table? The condition of England is very bad. The team has so far played 8 matches in this cycle of the World Test Championship and out of these it has won only 3. Till now the team has lost 5 matches. Before the Ranchi Test, England's PCT was 21.88, which has now come down to 19.44. That means the team is continuously incurring losses. The team is still in eighth place.
