Canada vs Morocco: Match Preview:

A famous victory over Belgium sent them into the top two of Group F and a draw will guarantee their progression for the first time since 1986.

They must overcome a Canada side beaten heavily by Croatia last time out to end their hopes of a knockout run in Qatar.

However, there has been plenty to grow their confidence ahead of co-hosting the World Cup in four years' time.

Team News:

Canada:

Stephen Eustaquio had been struggling with muscle soreness in the days leading up to Canada's meeting with Croatia. The Porto midfielder was removed during the interval of the 4-1 loss and is a doubt heading into Thursday's game.

Without any knockout place at stake, Herdman may be tempted to rotate his roster, giving minutes to those that are yet to feature in Canada's first World Cup in 36 years.

Morocco:

Yassine Bounou stood to hear Morocco's national anthem but pulled out of the starting XI moments before kick off against Belgium. His manager Walid Regragrui revealed that the goalkeeper "took a whack against Croatia" and was a doubt heading into the contest.

Similar fitness concerns loomed over both first-choice fullbacks. Noussair Mazraoui and Achraf Hakimi overcame hip and hamstring issues respectively to start. Even though PSG's Hakimi was taken off with a quarter of the match to play, both are expected to be available for this key clash.

Canada vs Morocco: Head to Head:

The two teams have locked horns three times thus far, with all meetings being friendlies. Canada are winless against their African opponents, playing out one draw while Morocco have picked up wins in the other two games.

Two of these three meetings have produced over 2.5 goals, with Morocco recording an emphatic 4-0 win when they last met in 2016.

Canada have lost their last five games in the World Cup while Morocco are undefeated in their last three and have picked up just one win in their last five games in the competition.

Morocco are one of just three teams to have kept clean sheets in their first two games at the 2022 FIFA World Cup alongside Brazil and Poland.

Predicted Line-ups:

Canada Starting 11 (3-4-3): Borjan; Johnston, Vitoria, Miller; Laryea, Osorio, Kone, Adekugbe; Buchanan, David, Davies.
