This was their second relegation in three years for Leicester. The previous year, they were the champions of the second division and were promoted to the Premier League. However, they could not handle the pressure of the top flight and were relegated after winning only six games and finishing the season with 25 points. They are the 17th team in the points table that season in the league. They are currently the fifth in the list of most valuable Premier League teams to be relegated.

The 2022-23 season saw two of the most valuable Premier League teams be relegated, as Leeds United faced relegation with a team with a market value of €397m. They finished in 19th place in the points table with only 31 points.

After staying in the First Division for five seasons, AFC Bournemouth was relegated in the 2019-20 season, even after having a team worth €343 million. They are just one point behind the relegation zone as they finish 18th in the league.

Southampton's eleven-year stay in the Premier League ended when they lost 25 games in the 2022-23 season despite having a squad worth 397 million euros. They are one of the two most valuable Premier League teams to be relegated.
