PSG vs Arsenal, UEFA Champions League 2025/26 final highlights: PSG repeats history, wins the title in consecutive years

It is brutal for all the Arsenal fans around the world, but this is how football is. Sometimes painful and yet beautiful. 

PSG becomes the second team since Real Madrid to win the Champions League title in consecutive years. 

Hakimi wins the toss, and the penalty will take place in front of the PSG fans.

• Ramos goes first for PSG. He hits the back of the net. PSG 1-0 ARS
• Gyokeres comes in for Arsenal. He scores. PSG 1-1 ARS
• Doue is the second player for PSG. He sends Raya the wrong way. PSG 2-1 ARS.
• Eze steps up for Arsenal. He has dragged it wide. PSG 2-1 ARS.
• Nuno Mendes comes up for PSG. Raya dives to his left to make the save. World-class. PSG 2-1 ARS
• Rice comes up for Arsenal. He levels the score. PSG 2-2 ARS.
• Hakimi to take the next one for PSG. He thumps it in for the defending champions. PSG 3-2 ARS
• Martinelli comes up next for Arsenal. He hits the top left corner. PSG 3-3 ARS
• Beraldo to take the next one for PSG. He hits the inside net precisely. PSG 4-3 ARS
• Match point for PSG. Gabriel to take the penalty. He fires into the sky and Paris are the Champions again.

We are going into the penalties. 120 minutes of gruelling football, we do not have a winner.

This will be the first time since 2016 that penalties will decide the Champions League winner.

Gyokeres goes for the goal, and it gets a deflection. It goes for a corner. 

From the close range, Timber hits the side net. Not sure if he was going for the goal for a cross. 

Yellow card for Mendes. Well calculated one as he dragged down Madueke in a counterattack. 

Neves wins the corner for PSG after a heavy battle against Zubimendi.

Madueke wins the free-kick against Doue and celebrates it with the Arsenal fans on the byline.

Barcola's header from the left was going straight to Ramos for an easy tap-in. 

But Raya, with a big leaping dive, deflected the ball away from danger. 

Vitinha, who looked injured, has been replaced by Zabarnyi. Meantime, Marquinhos was replaced by Beraldo.

No goals in this period. But we had a strong appeal for a penalty.

We will have 15 more minutes to see if we are going for the penalty or not. 

It's the first time that has happened in a Champions League final since 2016. Back then, Real Madrid beat Atleti on penalties after a 1-1 draw, with Cristiano Ronaldo hitting the winning kick.

No Penalty given here.

2 minutes have been added to the first period of extra time. 

And the risky part is that even though Arsenal wants him to be replaced, they can't.

They have used all of their subs. 

Yellow card to Declan Rice and Mikel Arteta for dissent and protest for not giving the penalty. 

Maudeke goes down inside the penalty area after a tussle with Mendes. 

No penalty given though. We will need to see some replays to decide that. 

Ramos laid it up for Hakimi, but from 30 yards away from the goal, he was not on target. 

Gyokeres gave the ball away and had to run back and foul Ramos to stop the attack. Yellow card for the big striker. 

Zaire-Emery replaces Ruiz in the midfield. 

Eze set Maduke for a cross from the right. But as he tried to find Gyokeres at the centre, Pacho made the block and let it go for a corner. 

Eze and Zubimendi replaced Havertz and Lewis-Skelly.

And as we expected, we are into the extra time.

15 minutes of each half to decide the winner. If not, then the penalties to give us a winner. 

This could have been the winning goal for PSG.

With Arsenal going for the goal, Barcola was allowed to make a great run through the middle.

But Barcola could not show calmness to find the target.

Goncalo Ramos replaces Dembele, who looked a bit tired. 

Neves gets the yellow card as he fouls Havertz during a counterattack. 

They are now preparing for the extra time. 

Ohhhh, it is a let-off! 

Mendes found Doue with the long ball. Doue made a quick cutback, and Vitinha had the chance to go for the glory from the edge of the D. 

He missed the crossbar by an inch.

What a waste! 

That was a genuine opportunity for Martinelli. But after making a solo run, he could not find any of his partners to his left. 

Wow! Now that is a masterclass from Raya.

In a counterattack, Barcola made his first run and nearly went one-on-one. But before he could chip the ball over him, Raya came in, made a slide and grabbed the ball. 

PERFECT!

Barcola comes in for Kvaratskhelia.

Madueke and Martinelli replaced Saka and Trossard. 

From the corner, Pacho missed the target with a back of the head header. 

Doue is doing all the job on the left.

His cross is deflected away for a corner by Saliba.

What a battle from two youngsters! 

Doue kept on fighting for the ball on the left. But could not just go past Lewis-Skelly. 

In a flash, PSG transitioned into attack. 

Kvaratskhelia, with the run from the middle, defeated Saliba with the pace. But as he went for the goal from the edge of the box, Lewis-Skelly's deflection took the ball away for a corner. 

Chance for Saka to go one-on-one, but before the English winger could chip the ball over, Safonov came out running to save the ball. 

Vitinha goes for the goal from outside the box. He missed the target by a few inches only. 

David Raya tried to find Trossard but gave it straight to Hakimi. Hakimi then found Dembele on the right, who could not hit the target.

We have our second break of the match. 

Right after conceding the penalty, Mosquera was replaced by Timber. Odegaard was also replaced by Gyokeres. 

That's how the champions come back! 

The Ballon d'Or looks calm as a cucumber and sends Raya the wrong way.

He hits the back of the net, and his 8th Champions League goal of the season takes them back in the match. 

PSG 1-1 Arsenal 

VAR also finds Mosquera guilty, and the penalty stays. 

Mosquera fouls Kvaratskhelia inside the box as Dembele found him cleverly at the edge of the box. 

Saka, on a yellow card, now gets around Neves with his hands and concedes a foul. He needs to be careful with half an hour away from the final whistle.

Hakimi went for the goal with the low free-kick. It went straight to Raya, who made a cautious save.

Saka becomes Arsenal's second player to be in the book. He fouled Doue to get the card. Free-kick from a good position for PSG. 

PSG are now looking like an attack that wants to catch Arsenal by surprise.

Doue from the left wanted to find Dembélé with a long ball; however, it was too long for the Frenchman to make it.

We are back from the break! 

Havertz struck early, and Arsenal did what they are known for - defend well.

Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie and Mosquera - all have shown guts, decisiveness, and form to not let PSG run into their final third.

PSG looked frustrated as they could only manage one shot on target. 

Will Arsenal park the bus in the second half? Or will Enrique find a way to break through?

Before Saka could take his corner, the referee blew the whistle.

It is 1-0 to Arsenal as Havertz's goal stands as the difference. 

From the corner, Dembele went long again. His corner was headed away, but it rolled back to Ruiz on the left, whose rocket volley went straight to Raya. 

Havertz nearly had the chance to have one hand on the trophy.

But at the edge of the box, Marquinhos made a big challenge to deny him. Big moment of the match. 

Arsenal are frustrating the PSG attackers.

Vitinha to Neves, and he found Doue, who went for the goal but missed it by a long. 

Dembele's shot from outside the box went over the goal as we see Thierry Henry watching the proceedings from the stands. 

Not sure who he is supporting! He is from France, but an Arsenal legend too!

Genuine chance for PSG! 

After waiting for a long wait, Nuno Mendes burst through the line to enter the box.

His cross from the left was deflected back to Ruiz, whose header went over the goal. 

Havertz wanted to slow down the game and the throw-in, and Hakimi, while going for the ball, had his hands around the German's neck. 

Vitinha looked for Dembele on the right and found him. 

The Ballon d'Or winner entered the final third and wanted to find the net with a left-footed shot. But Saliba made a big slide to block that shot.

Nuno Mendes, who was troubled by Michael Olise in the semis, has been facing some issues tackling Saka as well.

He fouls Saka and gives away a free-kick to Arsenal.

From the edge of the box, Dembele tried to chip the ball over Raya, but it went straight to the goalkeeper.

After a move in the box, Mendes is down inside the box. 

PSG were trying to make something out of the attack, but Arsenal have been flawless so far.

Since Safonov has been hit on the back of the head, we have a concussion break.

Saka looks for Trossard from the right. 

Safonov, with a brave dive to his right, went for the ball. A big hit on the back of the head by Marquinhos and Trossard has sent him down. 

We have a weather break, and the players are getting hydrated.

PSG have enjoyed possession in the last few minutes and have entered the final third a few times.

But Arsenal have defended well. However, they have not gone after the ball either.

Looks like Bukayo Saka could not control the ball inside their box, and it hit his hands.

But no handball has been given. No VAR too!

Dembele took the corner, and Ruiz was unmarked at the far post. 

However, he was not on target with his header. 

Gabriel does the cleanup for Arsenal. 

Kvaratskhelia was really close to flicking that ball inside the goal from close range, but the Brazilian's deflection let it go for a corner.

Havertz, who was included in the starting XI by Arteta, does the job. 

Marquinhos's shot was blocked by Trossard, and Havertz made a run on the left to go past Pacho.

From the close range on the left, he just sent a bullet shot to beat Safonov.

Arsenal take the lead.

Neither team is looking to give away anything in the early few minutes. 

A few fouls already. Ruiz threw the ball and got the warning but not the yellow. 

Arsenal kicks off the 71st European final and the 34th of the Champions League era.

PSG, after struggling a bit in the first round, had to play in the play-offs. They defeated AS Moncao by 5-4 in the second round and went past Chelsea 8-2 easily in the pre-quarters. 

After another easy 4-0 victory across the legs against Liverpool in the quarter-final, they defeated FC Bayern Munich by 6-5 in one of the greatest semi-finals ever to enter the final.

After topping the table in a group stage with a flawless record, Arsenal went past Bayer Leverkusen by 3-1 on aggregate in the round of 16. 

They then defeated Sporting AC in a closely fought match over the two legs by 1-0, and then defeated Atletico de Madrid in the semi-final by 2-1 across both legs to reach the final.

In seven matches between these two clubs, both teams have enjoyed two wins, while three games ended in a draw. Last season, in the semi-final, PSG were able to defeat Arsenal across both legs to enter the final. 

In the Champions League, however, PSG have won twice, Arsenal have won once, while two games ended in a draw.
