The exciting competition is currently underway in Uttarakhand at the 38th National Games 2025 which kicked off with the triathlon events on January 26.
The National Games 2025, India's own multi-sport event inspired by the Olympics, will see athletes from 28 states, eight Union Territories and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) compete for medals in 32 different sports.
Karnataka is at top position
In the medal table, Karnataka is at the top position with a total of 22 gold medals, SSCB is at second spot securing 19 golds in its account.
Maharashtra has performed brilliantly by winning the highest total of 60 medals so far. This includes 14 gold, 26 silver and 20 bronze, making it third in the table.
There are still several days left in the National Games 2025, due to which there is a possibility of further changes in the medal table.
Medal tally toppers end up as the champions
The overall winner of the National Games is awarded the Raja Bhalindra Singh Trophy for each edition.
The champion state is judged based on points scored - which are earned based on finishing positions in the events.

Most successful team
Since the Games were revamped in 1985, Services, a team composed of Army personnel, have emerged as the National Games champions the most number of times - four.
Current holders Maharashtra are three-time winners.
