Both India and China have qualified for the Uber Cup 2024 finals after defeating Canada and Singapore in their last two matches. The draw of the quarterfinals will be done once all the group-stage fixtures are done.

The young Indian women's team, which has already booked its place in the quarter-finals of the BWF Thomas and Uber Cup 2024, performed well against the formidable host China in their last Group A match but had to face defeat 0-5 and stood second in the group.

The Indian contingent, with an average age of less than 25, always proved weak against an organization that featured all the top-10 ranked players in the world. Although the team lost 0-5 and finished second in the group, they will take a lot of positives ahead of their Uber Cup 2024 quarter-finals. Both India and China have qualified for finals after defeating Canada and Singapore in their last two matches. China top the group, India finishes second and the draw of the quarterfinals will be done once all the group stage fixtures are done.

In the opening singles, Isharani Baruah faced Olympic champion Chen Yu Fei and even took a 6-4 lead in the first game, but the Chinese player took control of the match and won 21-12, 21-10.

After this, national champions Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra lost to world number-one players Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan 13-21, 12-21. Earlier, Anmol Kharb had to retire hurt in the second game against Han Yue in the second singles. The score at that time was 9-21, 1-4.

Anmol started third-match of the tie well against the world no.7, Han Yue, with her trademark drop shots but Han was equal to the task, using beautiful overhead shots to catch Anmol off-guard. The Indian got flustered with this game-play from the Chinese shuttler and made several unforced errors en route to dropping the first game 9-21.

It was in the second game that Anmol picked up the ankle injury when retrieving a shuttle using a slide which caused a full 90-degree twist. Sadly, she had to concede the match.

With the tie already decided, the second doubles combination of Simran Singhi, Ritika Thaker, and Tanvi Sharma tried their best but could not win.

Fifteen-year-old Tanvi Sharma, who was making her debut for the Indian team in the Uber Cup 2024, faced Asian champion Wang Zhi Yi in the second game and lost 7-21, 16-21.
