Ajit Agarkar's BCCI selection commitee announced India's squad for the five-match T20I series of India tour of West Indies.

Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal got the call for the India's 15-member squad for the five-match T20I series against West Indies starting August 3. BCCI's newly-appointed chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar took the decision. Jaiswal, after getting selected in the Test and ODI squads earlier, made it in the 20-overs set-up, while Varma has been rewarded for stellar back-to-back seasons with the Mumbai Indians.

Avesh Khan returns from injury while Sanju Samson is back and also leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar has retained his place. Jaiswal, 22, had a brilliant IPL 2023 season for Rajasthan Royals, scoring 625 runs from 14 matches – including the record for smacking the quickest fifty in the history of IPL off just 13 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders. He also scored a century (124 against Mumbai Indians) and four more half-centuries.

Varma, meanwhile continued this season where he left off last year for MI. Although the 20-year-old could not match his tally from IPL 2022, Varma's impact of 343 runs in 11 matches was much more. Tilak Varma played several crucial knocks including an unbeaten 84 off 46 balls in MI's IPL 2023 opener and a 17-ball 37 against Sunrisers Hyderabad which came at a strike-rate of 217.

India's T20I squad: Ishan Kishan (Wicketkeeper), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Surya Kumar Yadav (Vice-captain), Sanju Samson (Wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya (Captain), Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar.
