Shreyas Iyer recently led Kolkata Knight Riders to the 2024 IPL title but was dropped from the BCCI central contract list and missed out on participation in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Shreyas Iyer led the Kolkata Knight Riders to glory at the IPL 2024. This is KKR's third title in the history of the competition. KKR were ruthless under the leadership of Iyer and they hardly struggled. However, before the beginning of IPL 2024, Shreyas Iyer was going through a rough patch. He was dropped from the BCCI central contract list and was also not considered for the T20 World Cup 2024. That happened based on some reports on his fitness.

Shreyas Iyer was part of the national team in the first two Tests against England but was dropped for the last three Tests for his poor performances. He skipped a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai for a back issue. However, a report said the NCA gave a contradictory fitness report on him. During this time, several media publications spread a piece of news claiming Shreyas Iyer had attended a pre-IPL camp with Kolkata Knight Riders. BCCI then told in a press release that domestic cricket was mandatory for stars who wished to play for the national team.

On Friday evening, Iyer released a video where he talked about a lot. He said that the decisions didn't go in his favour. He did not mention it directly but this was clear that he wasn't happy with BCCI's decisions.

"I had a terrific World Cup and I wanted to take a break after that and wanted to work on my body and build some strength around certain areas. Due to lack of communication, there were some decisions, that didn't go in my favour," Shreyas Iyer said on his YouTube channel.

"But I realized that the bat is going to be in my hand and it's on me to perform and win trophies. I decided that once I won the Ranji Trophy and IPL that would be an answer for whatever happened in the past and thankfully everything fell into the right place. I am grateful, for how it happened," he added.
