Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah became the joint second fastest Indian bowler along with Ravindra Jadeja to complete 200 wickets in Test cricket during the fourth day of play of the fourth Test against Australia on Sunday. He is also the first bowler in the world to achieve this feat with an average of less than 20.
Bumrah left behind Kapil Dev
Bumrah made Travis Head (01) his 200th victim in the post-lunch session, equaling Jadeja in the list of bowlers taking the fewest Tests to 200 wickets. Both Bumrah and Jadeja achieved this feat in their 44th Test and they are the 12th Indian bowlers to achieve this feat in Test cricket.
Bumrah also left behind the great all-rounder Kapil Dev who touched the 200 wicket mark in his 50th Test.
Ashwin is the fastest among Indians
Recently retired Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the fastest in the list of Indians to take 200 wickets. He achieved this feat in his 37th Test.
Ashwin is third in the world in the list of bowlers who have taken the fastest 200 Test wickets. There are two leg spinners ahead of him – Pakistan's Yasir Shah (33 Tests) and Australia's Clarrie Grimmett (36 Tests).
