IND vs AUS: Starc, Stoinis, and Mitchell Marsh are ruled out of the T20I series, Sams, Ellis, and Sean Abbott replace them

On Wednesday, Cricket Australia said that paceman Mitchell Starc, all-rounders Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis will miss the IND vs AUS T20I series with "low level" injuries. Marsh (ankle), Stoinis (side), and Starc (knee) will be replaced by Nathan Ellis, Daniel Sams, and Sean Abbott in the squad, CA said in a statement.

The three-match IND vs AUS T20I series starts in Mohali, on September 21 before heading to Nagpur and Hyderabad. Selectors felt that with three games in six days across the three Indian cities. The trio was best served remaining home to prepare for Australia's defense of their T20 World Cup title on home soil, CA said.

All-rounder Daniel Sams replaces Stoinis while, Ellis replaced Marsh in the squad. Sean Abbott makes a comeback in the squad for the IND vs AUS T20I series in place of pacer Mitchell Starc.

Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis have recently represented the Aussies in the one-day format against New Zealand. The series ended up as a whitewash for the hosts, New Zealand with Australia winning the three-match ODI series 3-0.

Moreover, it was Finch's last ODI match as he announced his retirement from the format. However, Finch will lead the Aussies T20I side in the T20 World Cup and further. The T20 World Cup 2022, which is scheduled to be played in Australia starts on October 16.
