Indian men’s cricket team whitewashed England by 3-0 after an easy win in the India vs England, third ODI in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue defeated the Three Lions by 142 runs to wrap up this series in the final ODI.
Jos Butler had sent India to bat first but his decision backfired as India were able to put a 356 on the board in the first innings. During the chase, the visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals as India managed an easy victory.
Kohli, Gill, Iyer, Rahul score runs for India
Though India lost their captain Rohit Sharma in the second over, Shubman Gill continued his tremendous form in the series and built a solid 116-run partnership with Virat Kohli for the second wicket.
Virat Kohli scored a well-made 52 before getting dismissed by Adil Rashid. But Shubman Gill kept on finding gaps and boundaries along with Shreyas Iyer at the other end. Iyer, who is making a return to international cricket with this series, showed his attacking mindset from the word go.
While Iyer was hitting the gaps easily, Shubman Gill completed his 7th ODI ton and became the first batter to score an ODI, Test and T20I ton at a venue. Soon, Iyer also completed his fifty but Gill (112) lost his stumps while playing a big shot.
Iyer, (78 off 64) for the second time in the series missed out on a century. He was caught by Phil Salt down the leg side of Adil Rashid. Hardik Pandya came in and hit two sixes off Rashid but was bamboozled by Rashid on the next ball.
KL Rahul, batting at 5 showed his calmness and added a quick-fire 40 from 29 as India reached 356 in the first inning.
Adil Rashid with 64/4 was the star of the show for the visitors with the ball.
England's chase
During the chase, England got off a flying start with Phil Salt and Ben Duckett hitting boundaries for fun. But two wickets from Arshdeep Singh in quick succession helped India come back in the match.
Arshdeep Singh first dismissed Ben Duckett (34 off 22) with a slower ball and then got rid of Phil Salt (23 off 21) with another slower delivery.
Post that England kept on losing wickets as Kuldeep Yadav outfoxed Tom Banton (38), who was making a return to England's team nearly after three years. Axar Patel then removed Joe Root’s (24) stumps three overs later.
Then, it was Harshit Rana’s aggressive bowling that demolished England’s middle order. Jos Buttler (6), and Harry Brook (19) fell prey to Rana’s accuracy as both of them lost their stumps.

Liam Livingstone could only add 9 from 23 before getting stumped by KL Rahul off Washington Sundar. Hardik Pandya then rattled the lower order as England could reach only 214.
Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and Harshit Rana took two wickets each for India.
