    Team News

Both teams have no injury issues. However, fatigue might play a part for some of the Indian players. They haven’t got enough rest as the IPL 2024 season ended a week ago.

    India:

The Indian players are coming after an intense IPL season. They won their warm-up game against Bangladesh quite comfortably but the challenge is yet to begin. They are set to face Ireland who are playing good cricket. Rohit Sharma will lead the side and most likely open with Yashasvi Jaiswal who didn't feature in the warm-up game. Virat Kohli is set to take the responsibility at no 3 or we can see him open with Rohit too. There are too many options for India at this moment.

Suryakumar Yadav will bat at no 4 who can be a game-changer for the Men in Blues with his thunderous batting. Rishabh Pant who is back in the squad, scored a half-century in the practice match. Hardik Pandya and a spin all-rounder between Jadeja and Axar will feature on Wednesday. Hardik played a brilliant inning against Bangladesh and the fans will expect to see similar kinds of things from the all-rounder.

It will be interesting to see who will play between Chahal and Kuldeep in the game against Ireland. Kuldeep had a superb IPL campaign with the bowl while Chahal failed to maintain his economy but took plenty of wickets. Arshdeep and Siraj will handle the pace unit with in-form Bumrah on their side.

    Ireland:

Ireland won a tri-series tournament featuring the Netherlands and Scotland but lost by 41 runs to Sri Lanka in their final warm-up match. It is beyond doubt that this is the best prepared an Irish side has been in the lead-up to a T20 World Cup. Andrew Balbirnie, who batted at three in the 2021 World Cup, now opens for the team. Wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker, not in the XI then, is now the vice-captain and bats at three with a huge responsibility.

Harry Tector bats at number four and is looking dangerous. George Dockrell is a destructive middle-order power hitter. Gareth Delany is exploiting his leg-spin and has found himself as a bowling all-rounder. Skipper Paul Stirling and Balbirnie will try to take advantage of the powerplay. Curtis Campher can play an anchor role after coming at number five, allowing others to play with no fear.

Josh Little has taken a hat trick in the T20 World Cup and is a mature bowler. Mark Adair has taken over 110+ wickets in T20 Internationals at an economy of 7.75 and he will be one of the most important players for Ireland. Craig Young and McCarthy will be there too so it is going to be an exciting clash between India and Ireland.
