West Indies batter Lendl Simmons has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket, bringing the curtains down on a 16-year-old career at the highest level. On Monday, July 18, Simmons's agency shared a post on Instagram where it said that the batter sent out a letter to Cricket West Indies (CWI) to announce his retirement.

Simmons made his international debut way back in 2007 in a T20I against England at Kia Oval. Thereafter, he made his ODI and Test debuts in 2008 and 2009 respectively. He last donned the national colors in West Indies' match against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2021 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
In 8 Tests, 68 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, the right-handed batter aggregated 278, 1958, and 1527 runs respectively, with the help of 2 centuries and 25 half-centuries.
Simmons, also the nephew of a former all-rounder, Phil Simmons, made a mark in only his second ODI after he scored 70 against a power-packed bowling unit.
He also played a massive part in West Indies' victory in the T20 World Cup 2016 in India. He was initially ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury. However, he made his way back into the squad before the semi-finals after Andre Fletcher sustained a hamstring injury.
In the semis against India at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, he scored 82 off 51 balls and helped the Caribbean team through to the final.
Simmons also played for the Mumbai Indians (MI), Karachi Kings, Brisbane Heat, Chattogram Challengers, Trinbago Knight Riders, and many other domestic T20 teams in his illustrious career.
