Teams would prefer to bat first after winning the toss although no total appears to be safe on this pitch. The pitch of Bangalore is renowned for high-scoring matches. Bowling at the venue has been a bowler's nightmare but, there have been some low-scoring games at the venue recently for using black soil on the pitch.

    Team News

    Royal Challenges Bangalore

Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Katrhik looked in good touch for RCB in their first match.

RCB started their campaign with a loss against the defending champions, CSK. It wasn't a good performance from the side as the batters only managed to put up 173 runs despite getting a brilliant start from skipper Faf du Plessis. The middle-order batters threw away their wickets and CSK easily chased the target due to the lack of quality in RCB's bowling. None of the RCB bowlers could threaten CSK's batters and it always has been a huge issue for the side. Anuj Rawat and DK played solid innings after coming down the order to help the side put up more than a fighting total but the bowlers lacked quality.

Virat Kohli will have to improve after that poor knock while Patidar and Maxwell will be looking to make a strong comeback in the middle. In the bowling unit, Mohammed Siraj has to lead the team and start getting some key wickets while Joseph has to bring some variance in his bowling otherwise it would be a cakewalk for Punjab. Cameron Green will be one of the key players this season for RCB and he will have to step up to stabilize the team.

    Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow before the RCB vs PBKS match on Monday

PBKS started their campaign with a comfortable victory over Delhi Capitals and would like to extend their winning run when they meet RCB in Bangalore. Punjab managed to restrict Delhi from putting up a huge total on the scoreboard. Arshdeep Singh's 4-over spell was very influential while Harpreet Brar also bowled a superb 3-over spell. Harshal Patel did scalp two wickets but he was too expensive in his 4-over spell. During the chase, it was Sam Curran who led the side, scoring 63 runs and Liam Livingstone finished the game unbeaten on 38.

Shikhar Dhawan did get off to a good start but lost his wicket early but he will be hoping to score big this time around. Bairstow lost his wicket early but it shouldn't be the chase against RCB. He is clearly out of confidence so a flat surface could change his fortune. Prabhsimran Singh played a valuable knock in the middle after coming as an impact player and Punjab are bound to do the same also in this game.
