Bengal has defeated Baroda in the group stage match of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024 at the Gymkhana Ground, in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Batting first, Baroda scored 228 runs. During this, Shashwat Rawat played an important inning of 95 runs. He hit 10 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from him, Bhanu Pania scored 42 runs (51). During this, Mukesh Kumar took 2 wickets while bowling lethally for Bengal. Sayan Ghosh and Pradipta Pramanik got 3-3 wickets.

Hardik Pandya could not do anything special

Howvever, Hardik Pandya could not do anything special. Facing 2 balls, he got out after scoring 1 run. Hardik has recently made a comeback for Baroda. But he flopped even with his comeback. He could not play in the initial matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024. He played his last match for Baroda on 13 December. Now he came on the field again on Saturday. 

Bengal won by 7 wickets

The Bengal team, which came to chase the target for Baroda, won the match in just 43 overs. For that, Anustup Majumdar scored an unbeaten 99 runs. Facing 106 balls, he hit 12 fours and 1 six. Sumanta Gupta scored an unbeaten 69 runs with the help of 4 fours and 1 six. Bengal won this match by 7 wickets.

Anustup missed a century by 1 run

Anustup Majumdar, who was unbeaten, missed out on a century by just one run. Chasing 229 runs to win against Baroda, Bengal came under pressure after losing three wickets for 71 runs. Abhishek Porel (1) was dismissed early by Hardik. After some set-up, the other opener and captain Sudeep Gharami was dismissed by Meriwala. Sudeep Chatterjee was playing well after falling to three.

After this, Anushtup continued to play an amazing innings. He was accompanied by Sumanta Gupta. Despite many attempts, Hardik and Krunal could not get Anushtup-Sumanta duo out even though they used a total of 7 bowlers. Anustup-Sumanta added an unbroken 158 runs for the fourth wicket.
