England and New Zealand will kick off the ICC World Cup 2023. The opening match between these two teams will be played on October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The final match will also be played at the World's Largest Cricket Stadium on November 18. According to reports, India will play their first match of the campaign against Australia at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Ten teams will participate in the 13th edition of the 50-over World Cup. The World Cup 2023 schedule is yet to be announced.

After meeting Australia, India are likely to play against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 15. The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) will soon release the World Cup 2023 schedule after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League 2023 season.

World Cup 2023: BCCI yet to finalize venues for World Cup, Pakistan agreed to tour India for the prestigious event

BCCI shortlisted ten venues for the 50-over World Cup. The tournament is set to be held in India from October 5 to November 18. Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Dharmsala, Mumbai, Mohali, Rajkot, Guwahati, Raipur, and Hyderabad were the venues BCCI shortlisted for the prestigious event. In another development, Pakistan has agreed to tour India for the World Cup 2023.

After a lot of contemplation, and issues surrounding Asia Cup 2023, it is understood that PCB chairman Najam Sethi has given the green signal to play in the global tournament. However, according to reports, Sethi has expressed a few concerns about playing a match in Ahmedabad against India. PCB have agreed to play only the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in case they manage to make it to the finals.

There will be 48 matches to be played among the 10 teams in World Cup. India, England, Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Afghanistan earned direct qualification for the showpiece event. Two teams will make it to the list through a qualifying tournament. Zimbabwe will host the qualifying tournament in June. West Indies, Sri Lanka, Nepal, UAE, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Oman, and Scotland will compete in the 50-over World Cup Qualifiers.
