ZIM vs IND: Sundar has been replaced by Shahbaz Ahmed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Tuesday.

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar was ruled out of the ZIM vs IND ODI series on Sunday owing to a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, now Sundar has been replaced by Shahbaz Ahmed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Tuesday, August 16.

Sundar suffered a shoulder injury during a county game and he will not be part of the tour. Instead of him, Shahbaz has been rewarded for his consistent performances in the IPL with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

As for Sundar, his season continues to spiral downwards having been plagued with injuries. The all-rounder broke a finger during India's tour of England last year before pulling his hamstring ahead of the South Africa tour in January this year.

Sundar also contracted Covid-19 in the process before another wrist injury saw him miss five matches in the IPL 2022 season. He was set to return for the tour of Zimbabwe but will now be left to recover from the shoulder injury.

Shahbaz has played 16 games for RCB and scored 219 runs while picking up four wickets. His List-A stats are impressive as well where he averages 47.28 with the bat in 26 games. Moreover, he has aggregated 662 runs and scalped 26 wickets with an economy rate of 4.43.
