In the First leg of the play-off tie itself, Borussia Dortmund ensured their qualification to the RO16. The German side crushed Sporting Liston 3-0 in Lisbon, before a dull 0-0 draw in the second leg.
Having finished tenth in the league phase leaderboard, Dortmund have put up some quality performances this season so far, amidst their Bundesliga struggles. However, the runners-up of the 2023-24 UCL will leave no stone unturned to exceed their previous success in continental competitions.

From progressing through qualifying to finishing seventh in the 36-team league phase, Lille OSC have had an exciting journey in the 2024-25 UCL. Notably, they have defeated both Madrid giants and achieved an impressive 6-1 victory over Feyenoord during the league phase.
Additionally, the surprise entrants directly qualified for the Round of 16 and will face last year's finalists to seal a safe passage for their first-ever promotion to the quarter-finals in the club's history.
