Mohun Bagan SG are the organizer for the second ISL Derby this season, and the game was set to be played at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. However, the future of the scheduled Derby on 11 January 2025 remained clouded by uncertainties because of the security issues at the Stadium.

On 26 December 2024, The Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate issued a letter to the Mohun Bagan Club, stating their incapability to provide adequate security for the Derby on the 11th.

The Salt Lake Stadium is under the jurisdiction of Bidhannagr Police Commissionarate, and they are unable to provide enough security for the game because of the upcoming 'Ganga Sagar Mela' in West Bengal. This religious fair welcomes lakhs of people and pilgrims from all over India and demands proper security in the area.

However, these issues raised questions regarding the venue of the Derby; whereas the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar and the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati were reportedly being shortlisted for the substitute venue to organize the big game.

It is now reported that the Derby will be shifted to Guwahati and will be played there. An official announcement is expected soon.
