Lionel Messi tests Covid positive along with three others, PSG confirms

Lionel Messi and three other players from the PSG team have been tested Covid positive, the team management has confirmed on Sunday evening. Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala are the other three players to be tested positive.

Lionel Messi along with the other three players will miss PSG's next match against Vannes on Monday. From Monday, everyone in France will have to serve a quarantine period if they test positive regardless of the variant.

Messi had featured in PSG's last six Ligue1 matches. Moreover, he was also a part of PSG's UCL defeat to Manchester City. Although he was very influential in PSG's win over Club Brugge in UCL Group-A.

Meanwhile, Neymar is still recovering from his ankle injury. He is going through a rehabilitation process in Brazil. In fact, he is expected to be fit within the next three weeks.

Tests carried out during the winter break and before the resumption of training revealed 4 positive cases for Covid-19 among the players and 1 positive case among the staff. The people concerned are subject to the Covid protocols.
