A highlight of the game
Jason Cummings scored in the 22nd minute of the game. Petratos took a shot from outside the box but Amrinder made a save and pushed the ball back into the middle of the play. Cummings scored on the rebound and made the aggregate scoreline level. Odisha did keep the possession but it wasn't in their control. Habas had his plans clear and MBSG stuck to it. They didn't let the Kalinga Warriors take the lead and the first half ended as 1-0 in favour of MBSG.
The second half started with some changes for both sides. Odisha tried to threaten the MBSG defence but Vishal Kaith was top-notch today. Manvir Singh also showed maturity in his play and created lots of opportunities for his side to take the lead. They almost scored their second in the 58th minute.
Colaco sent in a good cross into the middle of the box. Manvir was there to receive it and he gave it back into the 6-yard box. Thapa got a slight touch and the ball went past the post for a goal kick. It was a huge chance and MBSG should have taken it but they didn't.
Another chance came for them in the first minute of the additional time. Petratos dribbled away from his defender and shot with his left foot from outside the box. Fall made a block but Kiyan got the ball inside the box. However, Kiyan's shot rattled the side net. But, the winner finally came for them through Sahal.
The 27-year-old midfielder scored the winner in the 93rd minute of the game. Manvir used his pace to carry the ball and then sent it to the middle. Amrinder came off his line to collect the ball but it bounced off and hit Sahal on the body and went into the goal. Amrinder claimed for a handball but the referee wasn't convinced.
Odisha couldn't turn it around and Sahal's goal proved to be the decider of the Semi-Final between MBSG and OFC in the 2023-24 Indian Super League season.
