Several Spanish clubs have reportedly threatened LaLiga with legal action if the League committee approves Barcelona's registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor

FC Barcelona failed to register the two players before the deadline on 31 December 2024, but the Catalan club remain confident in matching the financial rules of the league to complete the registration.

However, According to SPORT, clubs including Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao, and Atletico Madrid, have urged LaLiga president Javier Tebas to "closely scrutinize Barcelona's financial dealings"

These clubs are advocating for a stop to any protection or support that would allow Barca to register the players. The clubs accused Laliga of not offering this extension to other Spanish teams.

Reports have suggested that the clubs are prepared to initiate legal action against Laliga president Javier Tebas and the league committee if they approve the Dani Olmo and Pau Victor registrations. The clubs argued that other clubs faced stricter treatments in similar instances in the past but now this extension with Barcelona questions the integrity of the league officials.

Interstingly, the deadline for registration of the players was 31 December 2024. LaLiga is the only regulatory body for registrations under its agreement with the Spanish Federation.

LaLiga issued an official statement on 1 January, stating that Barcelona failed to adhere to the Financial Fair Play rules, quoting that Barcelona "did not present any alternative" on meeting to the regulations, which was required for the club to "register any player beginning on January 2."

If the governing body does not approve a player’s registration, the RFEF cannot grant the license. Moreover, all teams are required to adhere to financial fair play rules and the salary cap set by LaLiga.

If Barcelona’s attempts to secure exemptions are approved, it may create grievances among the other 41 clubs in Spanish football, who may perceive this situation as an unfair treatment.

Dani Olmo remains a free agent and free to pursue a club, but the Spanish winger made his intentions clear about continuing with Barcelona. The fiasco is continuing and Barcelona must find a solution to register the players to compete in the league, and the Champions League as well.
