Hidilyn Diaz booked herself in the record books after final clean and jerk of 127kg in the women's 55kg category. She became a national hero soon after that. Philippines's first ever Gold in Olympic came through Hidilyn Diaz's hands.

Diaz already had won a silver in Rio. However, the 30-year old weightlifter had something else in her mind. She always was going for the Gold. With this effort she is onw among the most prolific athlete of her country along with boxer Manny Pacquiao.

Diaz has not seen her family since 2019. And that made her more determined. In a special video for Olympic channel she shared all her emotions.

As a reward for winning gold, Diaz will receive at least 33 million pesos ($655,000) from the government and private sector, as well as a house.
