Mayas Kumble, son of Anil Kumble, the wildlife photographer writes coffee table book

Mayas Kumble, the son of Anil Kumble is walking in his father's footsteps. But no! He is not aspiring to be a cricketer. The former Indian captain was passionate about photography and often carried his camera to tournaments and matches. His desire for photography has passed on to his son, Mayas Kumble.

Mayas just released his coffee table book on wildlife photography titled "Safari Saga: Wild Encounters Of A Young Photographer". He inaugurated his book at an event at Bangalore International Centre on Tuesday. His parents, VVS Laxman, and Jayanth Sharma, wildlife photographer were a part of the crowd's event. Also, the senior cricket journalist R. Kaushik curated the editorial content of the book.

Mayas shared that he found interest in photography in 2017 after a family trip to Ranthambore National Park with his family. "We would visit national parks on our family holidays. Dad gave me his camera, and it unlocked a whole new world."

VVS shared Anil’s love for photography during their cricketing days. He said, "On every cricket tour, batsmen wanted to carry a better bat with them, while Anil wanted to carry a better camera. Some of my most memorable pictures were taken by Anil."

Many people believe in superstitions in their professional lives or personal lives. So did Anil Kumle. He shared his superstitious stories while photographing. "I think I may have played a part in a couple of my India team-mates getting out in the 90s. There have been occasions when batsmen have gotten out in the 90s, just as I picked up my camera to take pictures of them celebrating getting a hundred. Ever since then, I took pictures only after they completed their centuries. One memorable picture that I took was of Sachin Tendulkar celebrating his 35th Test century, at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, with the huge manual scoreboard in the background."
