The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 extravaganza is set to unfold from March 26, Saturday, with title holders Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) crossing swords in the inaugural contest at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. A total number of 70 league matches and 4 Playoff games will be played in the duration of 65 days. All the matches will be played in Mumbai and Pune with the iconic Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium holding 20 matches each while Brabourne and MCA International stadium, Pune, playing host to 15 fixtures each.

The participants -- players, support staff, coaches, umpires, commentators, broadcast crew and others -- will undergo strict quarantine rules before heading into the bio-secure environment. It should be noted that separate arrangements will be made for the participants in case they test positive for Covid-19 during the phase of IPL 2022.

A pre-travel RT-PCR is must for the participants before travelling to Mumbai while they will undergo three RT-PCR tests each on Day 1, Day 3 and Day 5 of their respective quarantine. They will be only permitted to proceed to their allocated bio-secure environment after being tested negative in all three days.

IPL 2022: List of training grounds

The organizing board -- BCCI -- has identified at least five training grounds for the league stage of the lucrative tournament across Mumbai.

1. MCA ground in suburban Bandra Kurla Complex

2. MCA Ground in Thane

3. Dr DY Patil University Ground and a football pitch

4. CCI (Cricket Club of India), Brabourne

5. Reliance Corporate Park Ground in Ghansoli

IPL 2022: Hotels picked up by franchises

The franchises will be based in separate hotels to maintain the bio-secure environment in the testing Covid-19 period. A dedicated area will be created and maintained for the safe passage of the teams from the stadium to the hotels. The green corridor will ensure safe passage.

Meanwhile, teams playing in Pune, will be allocated in JW Marriott or Conrad Hotel in the city.
