Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka win ITF World Champion Award 2023

Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka were awarded the ITF World Champion Award 2023 for reaching at least the semi-finals in singles at all four Grand Slam tournaments this season.

Novak Djokovic finished the season ranked number one in the ATP rankings for a record eighth time. He won the Australian Open, French Open and US Open titles this season, taking his total number of Grand Slam titles to 24. He was also the runner-up at Wimbledon. He went 56-7 and led the men's tour with seven titles. Moreover, Djokovic won the ITF World Champion Award for the eighth time and this is also a record.

Meanwhile, Sabalenka won this ITF World Champion Award for the first time. She won her first Grand Slam title this year in the form of Australian Open. In addition, Sabalenka was the runner-up at the US Open and reached the semi-finals of the French Open and Wimbledon. She reached the top of the WTA rankings for the first time in her career in September. Aruna finished the season in second place behind Iga Swiatek.

Other ITF World Champions included Storm Hunter and Elise Mertens in women's doubles, Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury in men's doubles, Diede de Groot in the women's wheelchair category, Alfie Hewett in the men's wheelchair category, Niels Vink in the quad wheelchair category, and Alina Korneeva and Joao Fonseca in the juniors categories.

ITF World Champion Award selections place extra emphasis on Grand Slam events and ITF international team competitions.

Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury secured the men's doubles award by clinching their third consecutive US Open title, showcasing their exceptional partnership on the court. Meanwhile, Storm Hunter and Elise Mertens, who were runners-up at Wimbledon, claimed the women's doubles title, highlighting their prowess and skill in the doubles' category.
