Novak Djokovic defeated 22nd-seeded Flavio Cobolli in Wimbledon 2025 to reach his 14th Wimbledon semifinal, surpassing Roger Federer for the most among men in tournament history.
The former World No.1 and 24 Grand Slam winner went past the Italian 6-7 (6), 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 to enter the final four of the tournament.
Djokovic will now face World No.1 Jannik Sinner in the semi-final. Not to forget, Djokovic is aiming for his 8th Wimbledon title, which will tie him with Roger Federer as the most successful player in Wimbledon history.
Novak's nasty fall in the final game
However, just before the end of the quarter-final match, where Cobolli put in a spirited performance, Djokovic nearly got injured during the final game.
Novak slipped on the baseline while attempting to convert his second match point. Cobolli showed the spirit of the game and quickly went towards the Serbian to pull him up.
Despite the fall, Novak was able to get back and find his composure to finish the match and qualify for a record 14 Wimbledon semi-final spot.

Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic semi-final at Wimbledon 2025
Till now, Sinner has a slight 5-4 edge in their head-to-head encounters. They first met on Monte-Carlo clay in 2021, where Djokovic prevailed. Djokovic then went on to defeat Sinner twice at Wimbledon and had a 4-0 lead over Sinner in head-to-head stats.

However, as Sinner grew in maturity and class, he defeated Djokovic in five back-to-back games. First, he won in the Davis Cup 2023 after saving three match points and dominated in every Grand Slam since then.
Their recent clash in the 2025 Roland Garros semifinal saw Sinner triumph in straight sets 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3).
With both in good form, it would be interesting to see if Djokovic can dominate the youngster or the next generation will have the last laugh in Wimbledon 2025.
