Real Madrid now can eye their third trophy of the season after they narrowly defeated Leganes by 3-2 in the Copa del Rey 2024-25 quarter-finals. A late added time winner from Gonzalo Garica helped them win the match.
Real Madrid started the match without stars like Kylian Mbappe, Thibaut Courtois and Jude Bellingham, who were given rest by Carlo Ancelotti. The defending Spanish champions went up quickly as Luka Modric scored early from an assist by Rodrygo in the 18th minute.
Seven minutes later, Endrick scored for them and extended the lead. Rodrygo initiated the attack from Los Blancos again.
But, the home side came back in the match as Juan Cruz converted a penalty for them in the 39th minute of the match. Jacobo handled the ball inside the box and awarded Leganes with a penalty.
Real Madrid started the second half by brining Vinicius Jr from the bench, replacing Rodrygo. The Brazilian did create a few chances but failed convert them.
However, it was Juan Cruz again who stunned them with a goal in the 59th minute of the match. Curz's shot from close range got a deflection from Mendy and went straight in for the equaliser.

Both teams had their chances to score goals but it was substitute Gonzalo Garcia who netted the ball in the added time to ensure Real Madrid would not have to play 30 more minutes with big fixtures coming up in La Liga and UEFA Champions League.
Brahim Diaz provided the all important assist for Gonzalo to head the ball inside the goal to break the hearts of Leganes' fans.
