India took the lead in the series of India vs Australia, Border Gavaskar Trophy & increased their win percentage at the WTC Points Table.

Team India moved one step closer towards securing a place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final as Rohit Sharma-led his side thrashed the mighty Aussies by an inning and 132 runs in the first Test of India vs Australia at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Saturday. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a five-for each in the first and second innings. India wrapped up the game in only three days. With the win, India took a 1-0 lead in the four-match series and also improved their win percentage in the WTC points table.

India had a win percentage of 58.93 before playing the first Test. They are currently second in the table, behind Australia with a win percentage of 61.67. Australia needed a draw to book their WTC final, but the defeat cost their win percentage to decrease from 75.56 percent to 70.83.

The runners-up from the previous WTC cycle, India needs to win at least two of the remaining three matches of the Border-Gavaskar series to book their place.
