BCCI secretary Jay Shah has been elected as the new chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah is the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He will officially assume the role of ICC head on December 1, 2024. Shah becomes the youngest person and the fifth from India to lead the global cricket governing body. Jagmohan Dalmiya (1997-2000)

Jagmohan Dalmiya was the first Indian to head the International Cricket Council, serving as its President from 1997 to 2000. Dalmiya was behind the idea of bringing the 1996 World Cup to the Indian subcontinent and played a crucial role in increasing the revenue generation of the ICC. He and the then BCCI President Madhavrao Scindia secured the Indian subcontinent the hosting rights for the 1996 World Cup, beating favourites England. He became the first Asian and the first non-cricketer at the helm of ICC.
