Ranji Trophy 2025-26: First round matches and streaming details

The season of senior men’s First Class cricket is all set to start with the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 starting from October 15. 38 teams will participate, with the defending champions and recent Irani Cup winner Vidarbha.

The season of senior men’s First Class cricket is all set to start with the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 starting from October 15. 38 teams will participate, with the defending champions and recent Irani Cup winner Vidarbha.

India's senior men's domestic cricket season is set to begin on October 15, 2025, with the start of the Ranji Trophy 2025–26. With 38 teams taking part across Elite (32) and Plate (six) divisions, as many as 19 matches will be held across different parts of the country in the first round.

This season will be a highly exciting one, with a total of 138 matches scheduled. Defending champion Vidarbha will open its season against Nagaland, heavyweight Mumbai will face Jammu & Kashmir, and last season’s runner-up Kerala will take on Maharashtra.

Ranji Trophy 2025-26 | Format

The Ranji Trophy is divided into two divisions, which are Elite and Plate. The Elite division features 32 teams equally divided into four groups, each team play a single round-robin in its group, and the top two teams qualify for the quarter-finals. 

On the other hand, the Plate division has 6 teams in a group, and the best four teams qualify for Plate knockouts, and the separate playoff system decides the final rankings of the lower Plate teams and the Plate semi-finals losers.

  • Group A: Uttar Pradesh, Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Odisha, Baroda, Nagaland, Vidarbha
  • Group B: Saurashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab
  • Group C: Railways, Haryana, Bengal, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Assam, Services, Tripura
  • Group D: Hyderabad, Delhi, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Mumbai, Puducherry, Himachal Pradesh

Plate Group

  • Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram
