Global football icon Lionel Messi is all set to make his much-awaited tour in India this December after a gap of 14 years. He first visited the country in 2011 when he led Argentina in a historic friendly against Venezuela at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Messi's four-city tour of India is scheduled to begin in Kolkata on December 13. He will arrive in Kolkata to begin the GOAT India Tour 2025. After his visit to Kolkata, he will fly to Hyderabad, followed by trips to Mumbai and Delhi respectively.

Kolkata (Dec 13)

• Venue: Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan
• Event: Concerts and a celebrity match with Sourav Ganguly, Bhaichung Bhutia, Leander Paes
• Time: 10:30 AM

Messi will begin his GOAT India Tour 2025 in Kolkata on December 13. According to reports, a get-together will be held at a luxury hotel. After that, he will travel to the Salt Lake Stadium, where Bengali film stars will welcome him with a dance performance. He is also scheduled to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The event will also feature a short football match between Mohun Bagan and Diamond Harbour, during which fans might get a chance to see Messi hit a few shots. Messi will also share the pitch with Indian sports legends such as Sourav Ganguly, Baichung Bhutia, and Leander Paes. The event will conclude with a grand felicitation ceremony.

According to reports, the event will also include the unveiling of a 70-foot statue of Messi in Lake Town. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether Messi will be present at the presentation in Lake Town or whether it will take place digitally from the Salt Lake Stadium.

Hyderabad (Dec 13)

• Venue: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal
• Event: Youth football clinics and training sessions to inspire young Indian players
• Time: 7:00 PM

Messi will depart from Kolkata for Hyderabad on December 13 at noon. The original schedule included visits to Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi, from December 13 to 15. Later, organizers added Hyderabad as a new stop. Hyderabad was added to the GOAT India Tour 2025 after Ahmedabad was taken off the list, and it reflects the city’s rapidly growing global profile.

Hyderabad will witness a dream match, ‘Revanth Reddy 9 vs Lionel Messi 10’, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s team will take on the team led by Argentinian football superstar Lionel Messi. Mr. Reddy will wear Jersey number 9, and Messi his famous jersey number 10. What makes the event even more special is the composition of Team RR9. Selected government school children with demonstrated football talent will play alongside the Chief Minister.

Besides an exhibition football match, the former Barcelona star, who now plays for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, is also set to conduct a football clinic for a few budding youngsters.

Mumbai (Dec 14)

• Venue: Wankhede Stadium at 2:15 PM
• Event: Padel GOAT Cup, joined by Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and other Indian icons
• Time: 5:00 PM

Messi will be joined by an exciting lineup of athletes and celebrities at the Paddle GOAT Cup, which will take place at 5 PM at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 14. Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and several Bollywood stars are expected to be present. 

The footballer is also scheduled to take part in a fashion show for a charity event in Mumbai. Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul will also participate in the fashion show. During the event, one of Lionel Messi's World Cup 2022 memorabilia items will be auctioned for a philanthropic cause. Messi's longtime strike partner in Barcelona, Luis Suarez, will also be involved in a Spanish music show.

New Delhi (Dec 15)

• Venue: Arun Jaitley Stadium
• Event: Grand finale with closing ceremony and celebration night for fans and sports lovers
• Time: 1:30 PM

The tour will finally conclude in Delhi on December 15, where Messi is reportedly scheduled to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The capital will host the final leg of the three-day event, which will conclude the tour.

Minerva Academy’s youth team, which swept three major European titles earlier this year, will be felicitated in the presence of Messi during the GOAT Tour’s New Delhi leg. The Punjab-based academy’s U-14 and U-15 squads had won the Gothia Cup, Dana Cup and Norway Cup during their July-August tour, while also reaching the Helsinki Cup final. There will also be a nine-members celebrity match during Messi’s visit to the capital.

Sources revealed that the Delhi District Cricket Association is also inviting Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, who is a big "Messi fan", a day after playing India's third T20I against South Africa in Dharamsala.
